We have the technology for safe, easy, and inexpensive space travel.
Here are the steps:
Fly on a jet to a platform floating in air at an altitude of 120,000 feet.
then launch and land your space vehicle from this platform.
At this altitude, unreliable booster rockets are not needed.
We can build lighter than air platforms with modern materials.
A typical platform will have the length and width of an aircraft
carrier for horizontal landing space shuttles. The platform will
be wider if a vertical launch tower is included. A cone shaped
bulbed keel can be used to help balance and stabilize the platform.
Heavy items, like the auxiliary generator and batteries can be
located in the bulb of the keel.
